About

Manolita Chen is a piece with strong presence of flamenco, incorporating elements of Spanish folklore. “Manolita” is a female name in Spanish, and "Chen" is a Chinese surname: the name reflects this dance piece's collision of Chinese and Spanish culture. In the process of cooperating with Beijing Dance Theater, the choreographer Marocs Morau contrasts, blends, distances, and even deforms Flamenco to express the feeling when two cultures meet and entangle. In Requiem, choreographer Wang Yuanyuan explores humankind’s longing for a spiritual home, and expresses her deep empathy for the people suffering from cruelty caused by religious disputes and a universal call for spiritual guidance.
