Xiao He is a folk music pioneer, with a reputation for blending genres and even different artistic forms. He has created sounds for theatrical works by famous Taiwanese director Meng Jinghui, for experimental films, and contemporary dance choreographies of Tao Dance Theatre. He doesn't limit his works to the sounds of the guitar, an usual instrument to play folk music; at this concert, Xiao He will be using a traditional Han-Chinese string instrument called ruan (阮), interweaving samples to create a unique mix of sounds that expresses his understanding for Zen Buddhism.
