A graduate of the famous Xinghai Conservatory of Music in Guangdong, and currently the only Chinese professors teaching piano at the prestigious Royal College of Music, Jianing Kong (孔嘉宁) is a name not to be missed in China. Kong’s precise execution of classical piano comes from dedicated training, and a raft of incredible mentors. Before moving abroad to the UK, Kong was a student of Fu Cong, one of the best pianists in the nation, then went on to study with Ronald Smith at Purcell College, Dmitri Alexeev at the Royal College of Music, and later became Alexeev’s assistant professor. Winner of numerous international competitions in the last decade, Jianing Kong helped to set the caliber for Chinese classical music. On December 5, Kong will play what he is known for: Beethoven’s piano sonatas.
