Long Yu Conducts Ding Shande and Mahler

Ding Shande (丁善德) is a pioneering Chinese composer, and the first Chinese pianist to have an album made. Long Yu (余隆), the current conductor and music director of Shanghai Symphony Orchestra, is grandson of Ding, and has been studying under his mentorship since early youth. At this tribute concert, Long Yu and orchestra will perform Ding Shande’s original composition, Chinese Folksong Arrangements and Poems of Western Yunnan, as well as Mahler’s Symphony No. 5 in C-sharp minor: IV. Adagietto.
