Commissioned by Shanghai International Dance Center Theater, “Catfish Effect” is the brainchild of director and choreographer Xinyun Zhu, who wanted to make a play-within-a-play in the style of the Truman Show. It combines a whodunnit situation acted out by real-life friends; Swedish composition; and a live performance of morin khuur, a Mongolian fiddle. In “Catfish Effect,” dancers reshape their ideas about self-identity and rethink their relationships with fellow performers. Two performances only on July 23 and 24. Show begins at 7.30pm, doors open at 6.30pm; performance is 1 hour long.
