The Foundation Cartier and the Power Station of Art are collaborating to present the first solo exhibition in China by French photographer and film director, Raymond Depardon, entitled "La Vie Moderne." The exhibition aims to give the audience a taste of his innovative approach to contemporary imagery since the 1970s. The exhibition's title is from the last part of the trilogy "Profils Paysans," which was co-produced by Raymond Depardon and Claudine Nougaret in 2008. The exhibition features nearly 100 photographic works and a themed film that showcases how the artist simplifies the interpretation of images by putting the images first, leaving space for the subject to take center stage. Depardon strives to establish a certain relationship between people and places by finding the best distance. He listens and allows his subjects to speak out, looking at the world with a humanistic perspective.
