The story began in 1966 when the famous jazz club Village Vanguard in New York City booked three Monday night performances for a newly formed big band. The shows received a tremendous response, and for over half a century since then, for more than 2700 Monday nights, it has never left the stage of the Village Vanguard. On July 14 and 15, Blue Note Shanghai presents the Night of the Village Vanguard Big Band. They will perform the most iconic works of this legendary ensemble, taking you back to the jazz hotbed filled with avant-garde sensibilities and countless imaginative ideas. Starts 8pm both nights.
