Sean Scully's major solo exhibition features 40 sets of paintings and sculptures spanning over half a century, from the 1960s to the present. He is considered one of the most important painters of our time, with his works held in major museums around the world. Scully is best known for his large abstract paintings, composed of vertical or horizontal bands of color, interlocking blocks of color, and gradient hues that form geometric shapes. He also works with other media, including printmaking, sculpture, watercolor, and pastel. In 2014, he became the first Western artist to hold a retrospective exhibition in China.
