In the early 20th century, Paris became a central location for avant-garde art, attracting artists from around the world and leading to the formation of the "Paris School." In 1906, Amedeo Modigliani, a 22-year-old from Italy, arrived in Paris and emerged as a notable figure in this artistic movement. Modigliani's work, characterized by his distinctive style and dynamic personality, garnered both admiration and rivalry, including from Picasso, who supported Modigliani financially and expressed regret over his early death. In the years since Modigliani's passing, his work has remained highly sought after, with some pieces reaching significant auction prices. This exhibition will present nine original Modigliani works, marking the largest display of his art in China to date.
