Trip.com Group’s Taste of China is a bold 90-minute immersive dining experience that blends fine cuisine, live performances, and cultural storytelling. Hosted in a panoramic dining theatre at Bund City Hall Plaza, this unique event takes guests on a culinary tour through China’s seven major regions, each paired with a signature dish and a story that delves into the heart of Chinese culture. Led by Cheng BaoBao, an animated panda chef, the show explores regional specialties, from the crispy Peking Duck of the north to the fiery Mapo Tofu with wagyu and lobster from Sichuan. Each course is accompanied by interactive projections, dynamic visuals, and live performances that bring the story behind the dish to life. Watch hanfu-clad dancers glide through virtual Suzhou gardens, witness Shaolin martial artists in action, and participate in a digital fishing game inspired by Guilin’s natural beauty. The show culminates in a thrilling Sichuan opera face-changing performance set to a powerful rock rhythm. The experience goes beyond the plate—guests are encouraged to arrive early and dress in traditional Chinese attire, with a styling service offering everything from Tang-dynasty hanfu to Qing-era cheongsams. This allows visitors to fully immerse themselves in the cultural journey before the meal even begins. By combining fine dining with immersive theatre, Taste of China offers a truly unique way to experience China’s diverse culinary traditions. With every dish serving as a gateway to its region’s culture, this show is not only a feast for the senses but a chance to connect with the soul of China in a way that goes far beyond ordinary tourism. The menu is pork- and lard-free, with vegetarian options available.
