MAP's Central Hall has been transformed into an immersive ocean, featuring two life-size humpback whales, “Batman” and “Aria,” whose bodies show decades of scars, toxins, and memories of life in the Pacific, recreated in intricate detail with embroidery, beads, and fabric. Visitors can explore multiple floors, watch the light shift from midnight blue to daylight, and hear a 22-minute soundscape blending whale calls, underwater ambience, and motorboat hums, making the space feel alive and breathing. Giant maps of whale migration and a co-created “Ghost Net” installation using recycled ocean nets highlight the human impact on the seas, while the hall’s vertical design lets you encounter the whales from every angle. A rare chance to experience the ocean’s beauty, fragility, and life up close, all in one spectacular, immersive setting.
