Dance Out of the Box Festival: After All
After All is a solo dance theatre work created and performed by Solène Weinachter, combining dance, comedy, storytelling, and theatre. Through the idea of a memorial ceremony, the performance explores themes of death, loss, memory, and the ways people remember those they love.

After All is a solo performance by choreographer and performer Solène Weinachter. The work explores human vulnerability and courage by bringing together dance, comedy, storytelling, and theatre.
The performance invites audiences to become guests at a memorial ceremony. Through revisiting the funeral of a loved one and imagining her own funeral, Solène Weinachter creates a space to approach themes of death, loss, and remembrance.
Although the work focuses on death, it uses humour and lightness to explore a difficult subject. Through monologue, dance, and film, the performance invites audiences to reflect on memories, relationships, and the experiences that shape life.
Solène Weinachter is a choreographer and performer based between Scotland and France.
Her artistic practice explores the intersection of dance, theatre, storytelling, humour, and conversations around difficult subjects. Her work focuses on the relationship between movement, the body, and narrative voice, as well as the connection between performers and audiences.
She has collaborated with European dance and physical theatre companies including OD Works, Scottish Dance Theatre, Lost Dog, Joan Clevillé, Gecko, and Vera Tussing. She is also a founding member of Collective Endeavours, an intergenerational music and dance improvisation group based in Glasgow.
After All presents a different perspective on a difficult topic, combining dance, theatre, storytelling, and comedy in a solo performance. Through the idea of a memorial ceremony, the work creates a space to reflect on loss, memory, and the moments that connect people.
Curated and presented by Shanghai International Dance Center Theater, the Dance Out of the Box Festival was launched in 2022.
Inspired by the idea of “think out of the box,” the festival focuses on breaking conventional frameworks and boundaries through dance. It explores diverse expressions in contemporary dance and supports artists in developing creative practices across different forms.
