The Brussels-based, genre-smashing collective known as ECHT! make live electronic music of the highest order - pushing the concept of EDM to new territories. Known for ‘blending a malevolent concoction of “Belgian Trap-Jazz” that oscillates through full-spectrum soundscapes of psychedelic bass, acid, footwork, drum & bass, U.K. garage, and instrumental hip-hop, among other experimental lanes of IDM,’ it evokes everyone from Aphex Twin to Flying Lotus, Skee Mask to Jonwayne. Focused, frenetic, and fierce, it’s a bombastic musical experience. Check the band as they roll through Sunday at Future House on the second floor of the Stars@ Culture Centre (formerly Bandai Namco).

In a society increasingly driven by technology, ECHT! takes a radically human approach. Instead of laptops and pre-programmed beats, they use drums, bass, guitar, and keys to recreate — and reimagine — the language of electronic music through pure musicianship.
The name “ECHT!” means “real” or “authentic” in Brussels Brabant dialect — a fitting statement for a band committed to transforming electronic music’s mechanical DNA back into something visceral and human.

Consisting of four musicians operating with razor-sharp precision and chemistry, the band crafts instrumental music that feels at once digital and organic. Their live sets flow like a DJ performance, yet everything is played in real time. Footwork, experimental hip-hop, trap, acid, drum’n’bass, UK garage, funk, and avant-jazz all collide into a hypnotic, groove-heavy sound that hits as hard on the dance floor as it does in deep listening sessions.
Since 2017, ECHT! has ignited stages across Europe, appearing at major festivals including Nuits Sonores, Lowlands, and Dour Festival, and performing at iconic venues such as Ancienne Belgique in Brussels and London’s Jazz Café.
Following their debut EP Douf (2019) and acclaimed albums INWANE (2021) and Sink-Along (2023), ECHT! returns with their boldest release yet — Boilerism.
On this new record, they push beyond their signature bass-heavy grooves, exploring faster tempos and embracing acid, drum’n’bass, footwork, and UK garage influences. The rhythms become sharper, more mechanical, yet their unpredictability remains intact — twisting and turning in unexpected directions.

Boilerism is both a celebration and reinvention — an ode to club culture, to live energy, and to fearless experimentation.
ECHT! represents a new generation of European independent sound — a band that bridges club culture and complex instrumental musicianship. Their shows are intense, immersive, and rhythm-driven, blurring the line between live band performance and DJ set.
On April 12, 2026, Shanghai audiences will experience their China debut — a rare chance to witness one of Europe’s most forward-thinking instrumental acts live. Expect relentless energy, intricate grooves, and a night that feels both futuristic and deeply human.
