Hardgroove is a style of techno that's been around for decades, and it’s had a bit of a revival lately, becoming one of Europe’s most talked-about club sounds in recent years. This sub-genre favors rolling percussion, swing, and groove over the full-throttle assault of hard techno - hence the name, hard *groove*. Launched by Onyx and Guso in late 2024, Hardgroove Mania is a Shanghai-based night dedicated to this sound that prioritizes rhythm and groove over hype and kick drum punishment. The 8th edition is going down this Friday night at neighborhood club, Exit, featuring five DJs: DJ EBP, Onyx, GUSO, Ziyi, and SITU.
