TAIXU DreamScape is an immersive theatrical experience that combines live performance, virtual characters, and mixed reality technology. Using Apple Vision Pro, audiences become a “Phantom” inside the story, exploring a world where reality and illusion merge.
Set in the 1940s, the story begins in Haicheng during a period of occupation and darkness. Foreign powers use five travel passes as a bargaining tool, forcing an opera troupe to stage their grandest production: The Dream of Red Mansions.

As the performance unfolds, tensions rise within the troupe. Some members seek secrets to save the city, some are willing to sacrifice themselves for those they love, while others secretly betray their own people.

At the climax of the opera, a hidden truth emerges: the five travel passes never existed. The city and its people are revealed to be part of a vast programmed system, made up of predetermined strings of 0s and 1s. The audience, as a “Phantom” embedded within the system, witnesses the search for a first true soul emerging from countless simulations.

TAIXU DreamScape changes the traditional relationship between performers and audiences. After putting on the Apple Vision Pro headset, audiences enter an intimate dream space where distance disappears.

Six live artists perform alongside virtual characters, while audiences can explore the environment in 360 degrees and observe details of the performers’ expressions. Through Mixed Reality (MR) technology, each audience member experiences their own perspective without a fixed viewing position.

The production features the world’s first theatrical use of 4D Gaussian Splatting, a dynamic 3D reconstruction technology that recreates moving figures as explorable digital models. Through this technology, performers are no longer limited to a traditional two-dimensional stage frame.

TAIXU DreamScape offers a theatrical experience built around immersive technology, combining live performance with virtual environments. Instead of watching from a fixed seat, audiences become part of the performance space, exploring the interaction between reality, illusion, and digital worlds.
