Description

Brazilian architect Lina Bo Bardi’s work is being presented in Shanghai for the first major solo exhibition of her practice in mainland China. Known for her human-centered approach to architecture, Bo Bardi viewed buildings as spaces shaped by everyday life, communities and social connections. On view at Power Station of Art, the exhibition brings together architectural drawings, models, photographs, videos and archival materials, tracing her creative journey from Italy to Brazil and highlighting key projects including the Glass House, São Paulo Museum of Art (MASP) and SESC Pompeia. The exhibition also recreates elements from her designs, including an indoor “river” inspired by the swimming pool at SESC Pompeia, creating a more immersive way to experience her ideas about space, movement and public life. Rather than focusing only on finished buildings, the show offers a closer look at Bo Bardi’s creative process and her belief that architecture should respond to the needs and experiences of ordinary people.
