Jazz at Lincoln Center Shanghai
4/F, 139 Nanjing Dong Lu, near Jiangxi Zhong Lu, Huangpu District
南京东路139号4楼, 近江西中路
Reny Bao, the Shanghai-born saxophonist known for his dedication to Bebop and Hard Bop, returns to the stage with a bold new concept: performing as a vocalist rather than on saxophone. His latest project, Harf Live Recording At JZ Club, was recorded live in a no-audience, one-take session with piano (Huang Jianyi), trumpet (Jeremy Sinclair), and double bass (Harrison Wardley), preserving the raw, unedited energy of jazz. Bao’s scat improvisations take center stage, creating a direct, intimate connection with the music and audience. On March 13–14 at Lincoln Jazz Center Shanghai, he will bring this experimental, voice-driven jazz experience to life, exploring the tension between presence and absence, improvisation and structure, in a truly unfiltered celebration of live jazz.
