Sir Antonio Pappano and the London Symphony Orchestra return to Shanghai in September 2026, bringing a classical concert featuring Mozart’s Sinfonia Concertante, K. 364, and Bruckner’s Symphony No.9. Pianist Bruce Liu will also join the performance as a featured soloist. After their previous appearance at the China Shanghai International Arts Festival, the orchestra and conductor will reunite with Shanghai audiences for another evening of symphonic music.

Sir Antonio Pappano and the London Symphony Orchestra will return to Shanghai in September 2026. The concert will feature Wolfgang Mozart’s Sinfonia Concertante, K.364 and Anton Bruckner’s Symphony No.9.

The London Symphony Orchestra was founded in 1904 and is currently the orchestra in residence at the Barbican Centre. The orchestra performs around 70 concerts each year.

Sir Antonio Pappano is currently the Chief Conductor of the London Symphony Orchestra. Known for his work in both opera and symphonic music, he has conducted productions and performances with major international opera houses and orchestras.

London Symphony Orchestra

Founded in 1904, the London Symphony Orchestra is the oldest surviving orchestra in London. Today, as the orchestra in residence at the Barbican Centre, it presents around 70 concerts each year.

Sir Antonio Pappano

Sir Antonio Pappano is the Chief Conductor of the London Symphony Orchestra. He is also Honorary Conductor of the Royal Opera House and Ballet and Honorary Music Director of the Orchestra of the National Academy of Santa Cecilia in Rome.

He has worked with major opera houses and orchestras around the world, including the Metropolitan Opera, Vienna State Opera, Berlin State Opera, Bayreuth Festival, Salzburg Festival, Berlin Philharmonic, Vienna Philharmonic, and New York Philharmonic.

Bruce Liu

Bruce Liu won the gold medal at the 18th International Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw in 2021. He has since collaborated with orchestras including the London Symphony Orchestra, Boston Symphony Orchestra, Philadelphia Orchestra, and Vienna Symphony Orchestra.

He is also an exclusive recording artist with Deutsche Grammophon. His debut studio album Waves received the Young Artist Award at the 2024 German Classical Music Awards.
