Sugary sweet power pop with shiny synths, earworm guitar melodies, and silky featherlike vocals - Sobs have become one of the most sought after indie acts to emerge from Singapore since their formation in 2017. Led with bright guitars and full upbeat instrumentals, Sobs’ music teeters with the fizz of indie pop - perfectly calibrating ‘inventive pop hooks for the indie rock lover, instantly accessible yet intricately arranged… drawing a line through the history of pop stylistics from 80s new wave and 90s power-pop to 00s sk8er punk and radio pop. Potent stuff that’ll have you basking in its afterglow - the band is touring China for the first time.

Formed in Singapore in 2017, Sobs have grown from intimate, lo-fi bedroom recordings into a band with an increasingly bold and confident live presence. Their early releases, including Catflap and Telltale Signs, introduced listeners to soft vocals, hazy guitars, and understated emotional themes that resonated widely within the indie pop and dream pop community.
With the release of Air Guitar, the band expanded their sound toward brighter, more energetic power pop and indie rock. The newer material emphasizes sharper hooks, higher tempos, and a stronger sense of movement, while still retaining the melodic sensitivity that defines their songwriting.
Sobs have toured extensively across Asia and North America, including a 2023 North American tour supporting Air Guitar. They have also built a particularly strong following in Japan, where they have toured multiple times and played sold-out shows.

Members of Sobs are also connected to Singapore’s wider indie scene. Jared Lim has been involved in other prominent local projects, including Subsonic Eye and Cosmic Child, both known for their contributions to the region’s dream pop and indie rock sound.
The band has received international media attention from outlets including NME, The FADER, Stereogum, MTV, Audiotree, and KEXP, helping introduce their music to a global audience.
This show is well suited for listeners drawn to dream pop, shoegaze, and melodic indie rock. If your playlists include artists like Alvvays, Japanese Breakfast, Fazerdaze, Hatchie, or The Sundays, Sobs sit comfortably in that same emotional and melodic space.

Fans of Southeast Asian indie acts such as Subsonic Eye and Cosmic Child will also find familiar textures and sensibilities here. Whether you connect more with Sobs’ earlier, introspective recordings or their newer, louder and more energetic live sound, the performance offers a balanced set that pairs emotional nuance with forward momentum.
