The Russian State Ballet is returning to China for its latest tour, bringing Tchaikovsky’s timeless Swan Lake to the stage. Led by artistic director Vyacheslav Mikhailovich Gordeev—a former Bolshoi Ballet soloist and People’s Artist of the USSR—the company is known for its technical precision and dramatic strength. About the Performance

The Russian State Ballet presents Swan Lake as part of its international touring program. Founded in 1981 and operating under the direct leadership of Russia’s Ministry of Culture, the company has performed in more than 80 countries. Since its first visit to China in 2003, the troupe has toured across the country more than ten times.

The ballet is directed by Vyacheslav Mikhailovich Gordeev, a dancer and choreographer who was awarded the titles People’s Artist of the USSR and People’s Artist of Russia. A former leading soloist and choreographer with the Bolshoi Ballet, Gordeev is known for his expressive performances and for promoting classical Russian ballet traditions.

The company has received several international recognitions, including gold medals in Italy, the Golden Ticket Award in Germany for record attendance, and the title “Europe’s Best Ballet Ensemble” from the Western European Association of Agents.

Swan Lake, first performed in 1877, remains one of the most frequently staged ballets worldwide. The work combines classical choreography with music by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky and tells the story of Princess Odette, who is transformed into a swan by an evil sorcerer’s curse.
