John Patitucci, Chris Potter, and Brian Blade bring their acclaimed piano-less jazz trio to Shanghai for the China premiere of their Grammy-nominated album Spirit Fall. The concert brings together three of contemporary jazz’s most respected musicians for an evening of original compositions, reinterpretations of jazz classics, and live improvisation.
Presented jointly by Shanghai Oriental Art Center and Jazz at Lincoln Center Shanghai, this concert marks the China debut of the John Patitucci × Chris Potter × Brian Blade trio and their album Spirit Fall.

The trio performs in a piano-less format centered around bass, saxophone, and drums, creating an open musical structure built on interaction and improvisation. The program combines material from Spirit Fall alongside reinterpretations of jazz standards and compositions by influential jazz figures including Wayne Shorter and Charlie Parker.

A three-time Grammy-winning bassist known for his work across jazz, classical, and fusion music. Over a career spanning more than four decades, he has collaborated with artists including Chick Corea, Wayne Shorter, Dizzy Gillespie, Sting, and John Mayer. He has also released 16 solo albums and performed with orchestras including the London Symphony Orchestra.

Widely regarded as one of the leading saxophonists of his generation. Potter has released more than 15 albums as a bandleader and appeared on over 100 recordings. His music blends jazz with funk, hip-hop, classical, and fusion influences, while his improvisational style has earned international recognition and multiple Grammy nominations.

A Grammy-winning drummer and longtime member of the Wayne Shorter Quartet. Known for his expressive and highly dynamic playing style, Blade has become one of the defining drummers in modern jazz through his work as both performer and composer.
