Dulwich College Shanghai Pudong was the first in the Dulwich College International family of schools, opening in 2003 in the Jinqiao District of Pudong. Since opening its doors with just 23 students, the College now educates approximately 1600 students from age 2 to age 18, with over forty different nationalities represented in our diverse student body.
Our links to Dulwich College, founded in 1619, are strong, and we collaborate closely with the other schools in the network to encourage an international outlook and create an extended community where academic ability is fostered, creativity is valued, and diversity is celebrated.
We are proud to share a common heritage with all the schools in the DCI network, and equally value the traditions, unique to our school, that we have created since we opened.
In 2016, we welcomed our second campus Dulwich College Shanghai Puxi in the Minhang District of Puxi.

Dulwich College Shanghai Pudong educates children from age 2 to 18. The primary teaching language is English, with a Dual Language approach in Mandarin and English in DUCKS.
Children up to age 5 follow the Early Years Foundation Stage, and from Year 6 to Year 9, they follow the National Curriculum of England and Wales, which is enhanced to meet the needs of their international student body.
In Year 10 they begin the IGCSE (International General Certificate of Secondary Education), a rigorous two-year course that requires students to take a broad range of subjects covering maths and sciences, English and foreign languages, and the humanities. It culminates in exams at the end of Year 11, and prepares students well for the two-year International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) starting in Year 12.
Over 200 full-time teachers. All classes from Toddler through to Year 2 have a qualified Chinese teacher that teaches alongside the native English-speaking teacher. All teachers have a degree in education and an average of nine years teaching experience. The College’s Western teachers are native English speakers while the Chinese teachers are qualified with a degree to teach Chinese.
The College campus is an expression of our learning philosophy. We offer an educational environment designed to nurture the intellectual, physical, social, and emotional development of our students. The campus is made up of three schools; DUCKS, Junior School and Senior School, in addition to shared facilities.
Shared facilities include a fully refurbished theatre with two drama black boxes, music classrooms, a recording studio and seven individual music practice rooms. For sports, there are two gymnasiums, a dance studio, function room, 25-metre six lane FINA swimming pool and training pool.
DUCKS students have their own dedicated building with a music classroom and library. There are extensive external play areas with shade, a running track, multiple tennis courts and a dedicated Toddler unit.
Junior School students have their own film studio, which includes an editing suite, Maker Space, The Lab (science laboratory), an art room and a fully stocked library. They also have access to outdoor classrooms and outdoor play areas with shade.
The Senior School opened its state of the art facility, SE21, in 2017 to encourage STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Technology) and entrepreneurship. There are also basketball courts, large sports fields and shaded external areas. The University Counselling service, led by our in-house university counselling team, is based in the IB Common Room. The laboratory building opened in 2018, which includes laboratory of Physics, Biology and Chemistry.
