Fall 2022 semester is the current timeframe for which Concordia University is hiring an adjunct faculty member to teach Public Speaking for our dual degree program students with Lu'An Vocational and Technical College in Lu'An, Anhui Province. Oct. 10, 2022 – Jan. 6, 2023 (13 weeks) is the expected timeframe for the face-to-face teaching of the Public Speaking course, though dates and teaching modality depend upon government guidance as relates to the pandemic experience.
As well, if the faculty member lives in a city other than Lu'An or Hefei, we would consider making this a 2-week or 3-week intensive course. This position is on a semester-to-semester commitment basis to get started, though depending upon the adjunct faculty member's experience and educational background, there may be sufficient work to provide consistent adjunct faculty work each semester of the year (if the candidate is available and evaluated favorably by CU).
Potential candidates should be willing to teach two sections of the Public Speaking course during the Fall 2022 semester. Each section will be offered approximately once per week for a 3-hour period (day of the week and whether morning, afternoon, or evening depends upon the candidate’s availability). This is if the course is spread over 13 weeks. Thus, flexibility exists to meet the needs of qualified candidates.
This is an adjunct faculty position for Concordia University (CU), which is based in Seward, Nebraska. Students are in CU’s dual degree AA program in Early Childhood Education at Lu'An Vocational and Technical College in Lu'An, Anhui Province. The instructor is tasked with using CU’s syllabus, texts, and materials to teach the content of the course(s) while simultaneously raising these Chinese students' academic English levels in preparation for transferring to CU for coursework there (in Seward, Nebraska). Preparation would ideally begin around Sept. 1.
