Job Description

The Academic Manager (Part-Time) at SHVFS plays a key role in supporting the efficient and effective execution of all academic operations. This role is ideal for someone with strong English communication skills, exceptional attention to detail, and a passion for education administration in a creative and dynamic environment.

Core Responsibilities

  • Course Scheduling: Collect and publish term course schedules from each academic program.
  • Academic Records: Gather student performance data and issue standardized transcripts for current students and graduates.
  • Student Surveys: Design, conduct, and analyze student satisfaction surveys each term.
  • Faculty Teaching Load: Track and analyze faculty teaching hours based on schedules and actual teaching activities.
  • Curriculum Documentation: Collect lesson plans and teaching materials for each course to support curriculum development and refinement.
  • Graduation Certificates: Coordinate with Vancouver Film School for official English diplomas and manage SHVFS graduation certificate preparation.
  • Cross-Department Collaboration: Facilitate communication between departments and academic programs to support events, course alignment, and other initiatives.
  • Annual Reports: Provide accurate academic data and documentation for SHVFS and Shanghai University annual reports.
  • Other Duties: Support other academic-related responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher; majors in Film Production, Educational Management, or related fields are preferred.
  • At least 3 years of experience in academic operations, educational administration, or related higher education roles.
  • Excellent written and spoken English, with the ability to use English as the primary working language.
  • Meticulous and detail-oriented work ethic, with a strong sense of responsibility and enthusiasm for education.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills in handling educational resources.
  • Demonstrated initiative and sound judgment in independent and team settings.
  • Collaborative team player with the ability to thrive under pressure.

Shanghai Vancouver Film School

Founded in 2014 with strong support from the Shanghai Municipal Government, Shanghai Vancouver Film School (SHVFS) is a joint initiative between Shanghai University and Vancouver Film School (VFS), Canada. Our school council includes representatives from the Shanghai Film Bureau, Shanghai Municipal Education Commission, Shanghai Municipal Administration of Culture and Tourism, Jing’an District Government, Shanghai University, and VFS. Celebrated Chinese director Jia Zhangke currently serves as our Dean.

As the only Chinese-foreign cooperative film school in China to fully adopt North American faculty, bilingual (English/Chinese) instruction, and Hollywood industry standards, SHVFS is rooted in Shanghai’s vibrant “City of Film” culture.
