Engagement Marketing Manager (US Market)

As Engagement Marketing Manager, you will own the strategy and messaging to re-engage users for our award-winning step-by-step cooking app SideChef. After users download our app, how can you best utilize channels like push notification, email, and in-app messaging to prompt their return?

You are as comfortable writing punchy email subject lines as reviewing google analytics. Your data-driven approach will drive engagement and retention for our mostly-US based audience.

What you'll do:

  • Develop strategy and drive execution of campaigns and automations for users across onboarding, engagement, and re-engagement programs with a focus on the US market
  • Build and execute campaigns across email, in-app, mobile and SMS messaging that engages users with our products and drives measurable business impact, including writing and curation of images/creative
  • Create a robust experimentation program that will help us quickly improve our efforts, with statistically significant results
  • Optimize existing marketing campaigns and create new campaigns with A/B tests on subject lines, content, audience segmentation, etc
  • Support the launch of product features and market expansions with engagement campaigns to new and existing users
  • Leverage personalization to deliver the right message to the right person at the right time based on their persona, preferences and behavior
  • Analyze and monitor the impact of programs, using insights to constantly improve
  • Identify opportunities and develop strategies to increase conversions through various channels (email, push, in-app messages, etc.)
  • Run and monitor reports on the various lifecycle marketing initiatives
  • Collaborate cross functionally with marketing, creative, analytics, product, engineers and city teams to align on goals, hit shared targets, and support broader company objectives


  • 2+ years cross-channel user engagement tools marketing (email, mobile, in-product) for large brands or start ups
  • Excellent writing skills, knowledge of digital food content channels
  • Experience using email platforms like Iterable a plus
  • Analytical thinker with experience in tools like Facebook Analytics, Google Analytics and Segment
  • Proven expertise and track record of driving increased retention in a mobile product
  • Excellent creativity, sense of visual design, customer orientation, and ability to create compelling messages that lead to high-converting messages
  • Self-starter and able to own various initiatives from start to finish
  • Experience developing and executing A/B tests and translating the results into valuable business insights
  • Outcome driven and comfortable developing long term goals to track and improve performance
  • Experience working in a startup environment that requires flexibility and continuous innovation
  • Ability to collaborate with multiple teams and functions within the company including product, marketing, design and analytics
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Extensive knowledge of various email systems and best practices including dynamic lists, dynamic content, automations, HTML, and CSS
