SmartShanghai is looking for one lovable person with a huge appetite for music, culture, art, and the nightlife and the drive to write articles based on them. This role, for a native English speaker, comes with a work visa and a competitive salary, as well as a seat in SmartShanghai HQ with the rest of our team, five days a week.
The Events & Music editor will be THE curator of the SmartShanghai events calendar, Shanghai's best resource on events, concerts, art exhibitions, community events and more. SmartShanghai lists over 100 shows at any given time, from the Formula One race to the Russian State Ballet and parties with members of the A$AP Mob. In addition to managing the events calendar you will create editorial content related to the listed shows, including interviews with musicians, dancers and other performers; original editorial material putting the shows into context for readers and customers; editorial recommendations; listicles; and whatever else we can think of to get the word out there about all the great cultural activities that are happening in Shanghai. This is a great opportunity for a younger writer with a strong interest in arts and culture, seeking to gain first professional work and writing experience.
You’ll be working in a mixed international team with a creative work environment in a bright, comfortable office in downtown Shanghai. We offer an above average salary, flexible holidays and work hours. Working language within the office is English. We use modern tools such as Slack and Trello for communication.
