SmartShanghai has a position open for a full-time, native Chinese editor to join our growing team of awesome people, blasting up Shanghai nightlife, dining, arts, entertainment and lifestyle editorial content on SmartShanghai.com. This opportunity to take up arms in the front lines of online nu media comes with a pretty decent salary, and the freedom to develop your writing and portfolio in the most important areas of human existence.
We want someone who is a generalist, with broad knowledge of Shanghai, excellent research skills and the ability to write on a wide range of topics. You will be be supporting the editorial team with researching stories and collections ('Where to get a PCR test in Shanghai' , 'Christmas church services in Shanghai'), generate a consistent stream of ideas for articles (like this one, or this one, or this one), and write articles for the website on what's happening in this city in the areas of arts, music, dining, nightlife and urban developments. You need to be on top of what’s happening in the Chinese media world, and helped translate ideas (not literally) into stories that fit the SmartShanghai tone and will appeal to the SmartShanghai audience.

A native Chinese speaker who is over-educated in the areas of Journalism, English Lit, Asian Studies, Poli Sci — something like that. You should have some sort of impressive degree. You should also be able to speak excellent English.
The right candidate has been living in the city for a while and has Shanghai-specific writing and research credits (either in English or Chinese) that they can show us.
