An outdoor shikumen square dating back to the end of the 19th century, Zhang Yuan (sometimes known as Plaza 99, Taixing Plaza, 99 Taixing or a bunch of other names), used to be surrounded on three sides by bars and restaurants like Logan's Punch, Tomatito, El Ocho, Garlic and more, and also also used sometimes as a community event/art exhibition space. In April of 2019, however, it was closed for redevelopment and is currently inaccessible to foot traffic.
