A popular historical compound that used to house, among other things, the old Navy Club, the Columbia Country Club – a hangout for Americans in the 20s and 40s – and a mansion built for Sun Ke, the son of Dr. Sun Yat-Sen, by Hungarian architect Lazlo Hudec. After the end of World War II, it contained a biological institute and then lay vacant for a few years, before Vanke group rented it in 2016 and started major renovations. While the swimming pool (no, you can't swim in it) has been a popular photo shot since the 2018 reopening, the rest of the space took several years to get off the ground, but it is now a major - but still chill - destination in Changning for F&B, culture, and some curated retail (e.g., outdoor gear, a major bookstore, high-end cameras). There's also office space and working spaces. The second phase is now open, featuring even more retail and restaurants. Ample outdoor space and a laid-back, not-overly-crowded vibe make this a good place to wander, especially on a nice day. There's two entrances: one on Yan'an Lu, and another one just past Sun Ke's villa at 60 Panyu Lu, where it crosses with Pingwu Lu.
