Founded in 2014 and officially registered in Shanghai, Xiersen is an NGO dedicated to improving special education in China and enriching the lives of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). Established by special education professionals and passionate advocates, Xiersen works to build a more inclusive society where individuals with IDD and their families are empowered, included, and valued.

Xiersen takes a holistic, community-centered approach to its work. The organization partners with corporations and community groups to promote inclusive employment by raising awareness, building connections, and creating more opportunities for individuals with IDD. Its latest initiative, Special Slices (非凡剪影), is a manga series created to encourage awareness, acceptance, and inclusion. Through engaging stories and relatable characters, the project aims to bridge the gap between individuals with disabilities and the wider community, replacing misunderstanding with curiosity, connection, and respect.

Recognizing that caregiving can often be isolating and challenging, Xiersen also runs Warm Circles, support groups for parents and caregivers. These groups provide a safe and supportive space where families can share experiences, access resources, and connect with others who understand their journey.

At its core, Xiersen believes that inclusion goes beyond providing access to education or employment. It is about creating a society where every individual and every family feels seen, supported, and valued.
