A jazz loft above an unrelated bar (take the turquoise door on the right) on Changhua Lu. Black Note does two things well: dark, moody ambience and comfortable seating, and vinyl. The record player takes up the left fourth of the bar, and the shelf behind it is stacked with hundreds of jazz (and some other) records. Customers are welcome to walk up and pick records themselves: the barman will play them all the way through, both sides. Cocktails are so-so and quite pricy, so stick to simple mixers or liquor on the rocks. Good spot for a date, or a quite, sophisticate evening discussing Chet Baker.
