This well-kept Chinese traditional garden is peaceful and worth the 2rmb entrance fee. Guilin means osmanthus forest, named for the osmanthus trees in the garden. The place was originally built as the residence of legendary Shanghai gangster Huang Jinrong. If you are deciding between Guilin and the nearby free Kangjian park, opt for Guilin. It has more character, more unique areas, is pretty and quiet.
