The name itself sums it up rather succinctly — it's an izakaya by Atelier. Headed by cocktail specialist Daniel An, these are the same people who brought you Taste Buds Cocktail Palace, Taste Buds on Xiangyang Lu and Atelier by Taste Buds. Infectious soundtrack of early 80s funk and R&B soundtrack with a simple, stark and minimalistic design — lots of black paint with exposed ductwork overhead. They have two kitchens, serving two different styles of cooking. If you want traditional, tried and true, go for the grilled dishes from the Japanese binchotan, most of which is solidly good. They take a bit more license with the dishes that come from the back kitchen; some are sexed up standards, while other menu items wander a bit off course. They have highballs and sake, naturally. Expect a crowd of fashionable — but not flash — customers.
