The opera house will be a landmark building at the Shanghai EXPO Cultural Park. Inside the building will be a state-of-the-art 2,000 seated auditorium, a 1,200 seated stage for smaller productions and a third theater for smaller performances. The building will have a distinctive appearance of an unfolding fan, with an open-air staircase that the public can use to reach to the rooftop and view the city. The plaza will be open for visitor access 24 hours a day.
