Located on Taikang Terrace, Bisou, a quaint and casual, menu-on-chalkboard French bistro, comes courtesy of Executive Chef and Partner Rembrandt Van Der Laan. Van Der Laan is living embodiment of the EU — a Frenchman from Brittany with Dutch and Italian parents. He grew up in his parents’ Italian restaurant, which shines through in fresh homemade pastas. The rest of it, though, is straight-up French. Think: foie gras torchon, endive salad, duck magret with morel cream sauce, bavette steak. No whimsical deconstructions or reinterpretations, just simple, solidly good classics. The rustic dining space makes use of exposed brick and rafters, a vaulted timber ceiling, and also boasts a cozy outdoor terrace. Great for dates, groups of friends, anyone looking to enjoy the classic continental cuisine of their youth or try an authentic version of it for the first time.
