Upon entering the space, passing through a small yet comfortable terrace with a few seatings, an intense neon red color highlights signages with the word "bistro" or the shape of a pig - a common thread here as jamon (Spanish for ham) is at the core of its concept -. It is exactly this red color and the light bulbs that imprint a cabaret feeling in the design of the venue that reminds of Moulin Rouge mixed with an Almodovar movie starring Penelope Cruz - the big drawing in the private room may as well be inspired by the famous Spanish actress - Precisely, the design brings the flamenco imagery to remind guests that, after all, you are here to eat Spanish food. And now onto the food: most of the menu comes in the form of tapas, perfect for sharing. Some recommended are the 48 months Iberian ham dumplings 4 dumplings where fusion cuisines actually feels good; smoked salmon & cheese ball; burrata cheese & tomato& iberian ham where the ham is stuffed inside the burrata; the black truffle potato eggs and of course the Iberian Ham in any of their agings, let the waiter recommend according to your taste. To top it off order the Mediterranean Paella, it comes with half lobster and plenty of seafood: clams, shrimps, scallops...definitely a good value for money Drinks are also of great quality for the price, specially during Happy Hour, evey day from 5pm to 9:30p where selected drinks for 50rmb are buy 1 get 1 free; take advantage of the deal to get several glasses of wine of one of their signature cocktails. Overall, Jax Bistro is a great option for Spanish food and good drinks for any occasion: from a chill summer afternoon tapas and wine in the terrace, a romantic dinner in the elegant interior or a group celebration at the private dining room.
