"New Tex-Mex BBQ joint Smokin’ Hog officially opened last week in Post No Bills’ old location. This is chef Nacho Virgen and partner Karina Sasmita’s first brick-and-mortar restaurant in Shanghai giving their popular Smokin' Hog pop-up a permanent home.

The menu is as authentic Texas BBQ as can be expected, but with some Mexican dishes like nachos, chili con carne, tacos. Try a platter with your choice of brisket, ribs, pulled pork, or sausage. For sides, they offer all the classics: mac & cheese, fries, coleslaw, potato salad – the corn bread is a must-try.

They also do a mean burger. We tried the Fully Loaded 2.0, a sandwich with smoked brisket and maple pork belly, encased in a lightly toasted brioche bun.

For desserts, try the decadent Tipsy Banana Pudding, made with a bourbon custard, banana caramel, crumble, and sorbet. Recommend getting a Mexican coffee with it. Signature cocktails include the Vampiro, their take on a Bloody Mary, topped with bacon and gherkins. Also good was their Paloma.

The open-air storefront lets in a nice breeze, making this a cozy hangout spot to enjoy some good BBQ and cocktails with friends. Smokin’ Hog is located at 970 Wuding Lu."
