Founded by Carlito and Lance in 2024, Flow Theory is a studio space that attracts like-minded individuals who want to excel in dance and movements. It is a studio space located near Longde Road Station (Line 11/13) and it features a variety of fitness and dance lessons, such as Bachata dance training, Kizomba dance training, AcroYoga, and Mobility & Body Awareness Training. Flow Theory’s philosophy is to bring mind and movement as one, and encourage students to think beyond physical movement and connect the movement with its meanings and origin. Carlito and Lance would like to foster more critical thinking into one’s dance and fitness journey. This is a space that welcomes all and the founders wish to create a supportive and inclusive sanctuary for everyone. Carlito and Lance would like everyone to thoroughly enjoy this journey of mind and movement and find joy. About Carlito and Lance: Carlito left China at a young age for Melbourne, Australia, where he got involved in the local latin dance community and grew to a pioneer of Bachata Sensual in both Australia and China today. As of 2024, he is the only Level 2 Bachata Sensual official instructor certified by Korke y Judith (the founder of Bachata Sensual) in China. He has claimed multiple trophies and national titles in Australia’s latin dance competitions and he is well connected with the international dance community. He is seen as one of the lead Bachata dancers / Bachateros who represent the Chinese community in the world. With his credentials and expertise, he looks forward to nurturing and growing the local Chinese scene. Lance has claimed multiple USAG Junior Olympics titles. Her knowledge to body movement, awareness and mobility training is second to none in China’s latin dance community. Lately she has also ascended to her position as one of the best followers in Bachata dancing in China, especially in the realm of flowy circular movements. She is kind and empowering, and wishes to take everybody through a positive journey to become a better version of ourselves. In and outside of Flow Theory, you will always see her greet you warmly, and want to take you to all of her favorite activities in Shanghai (i.e Flow Cycling).
