This building was designed in 1932 by a famous French architect, and it once served as the office of a joint company owned by prominent Shanghai figures like Huang Jinrong and Du Yuesheng. After the liberation, it became the headquarters of the Shanghai Transportation Bureau and later transformed into the Mansion Hotel, a five-star boutique hotel with 32 rooms. Unfortunately, it didn't survive the COVID years. Now, after several months of renovation, it's the new location of the Chinese fast fashion brand Basement FG, which is somewhat like the Chinese version of Brandy Melville. They've removed the iron railings that surrounded the building and restored it entirely, so you can finally appreciate its beauty again. It's nice that they chose to keep the original pavilion in the courtyard.
