Spanning 60,000 sq.m, this massive, futuristic station in Shanghai's southwestern suburbs connects the Shanghai-Suzhou-Huzhou network while maintaining its link to the Shanghai-Kunming High-Speed Line. As part of the larger "City-Station Integration" initiative, the station's development is aligned with urban regeneration plans, aiming to stimulate new districts and business areas around the transport hub. The station features five floors, nine platforms, and 23 lines, with an innovative design that includes an upper-entrance and lower-exit pedestrian structure to accommodate up to 5,000 passengers. The sleek, metallic design of the station is intended to reflect Pujiang culture and symbolize the high-tech aspirations of both Songjiang and Shanghai. While the station’s futuristic design has faced some public criticism, it remains a striking example of modern architecture. Accessible via Metro Line 9 and future extensions of Line 12, it is located at least an hour by car from downtown Shanghai, and probably considerably more with traffic.
