Specters has resurfaced inside the newly opened YUYINTOWN complex, this time with more space to stretch out but without losing its dive-bar soul. Still run by the same Yuyintang-adjacent crew, it remains a gathering point for Shanghai’s rock, punk, and general nightlife fringe. The new location is noticeably bigger, spread over two floors, with more seating than before and a DJ booth that feels intentionally oversized. Music leans underground and unpredictable, drinks stay affordable, and the crowd is a familiar mix of musicians, regulars, and people who wandered in after a show next door. It’s less cramped than the old Yuyuan Lu version, but the spirit is very much intact.
