Panlong Tiandi is a large-scale urban renewal project in Qingpu that turns a more than 700-year-old Jiangnan water town into a modern leisure and lifestyle destination. Developed by Shui On, it preserves much of Panlong’s historic street layout, waterways, and bridges, folding them into a low-density mix of restaurants, cafés, cultural venues, and parkland. The old town core is surrounded by expansive green space, walking trails, and waterfront paths, giving it a calmer, more spacious feel than most city shopping areas. It’s well connected by Metro Line 17 and works best as a half-day wander—for casual dining, slow walks, and getting a glimpse of how Shanghai is reworking its historic edges rather than freezing them in time.
