Bringing rock and roll and playfulness to a serious cocktail bar on Julu Lu, Sting and Honey is the kind of place where you can get a hot-dog old fashioned or Thai street-food inspired cocktail while listening to some early 00s emo classics or even Pearl Jam. Rock, but nothing too heavy. Service from the young team is approachable and attentive – it’s the kind of place where they’ll walk you around and show you the huge walk-in cooler where they keep all their house-made ingredients and infusions. Design wise, the place is warm and comfortable, with maple wood panels softening the room, a big island bar to sit around, and lots of smaller nooks and places for groups to sit. Drinks are around 100-120rmb each. To eat, they have a short menu of dishes like Korean seafood noodles – served in a proper brass pot with heavy spoons – and fish jerky. There’s also some restaurants downstairs that stay open late.
