Jialing Market, nicknamed “Carb Road,” is a throwback to old-school Shanghai street eats. Over 30 stalls line the sidewalk outside the wet market, serving everything from shengjianbao and thick qiangbing to youtiao and fried curry beef buns. Mornings are the busiest, with fresh batches constantly coming out of the fryer and crowds happily eating on their feet. Inside, the two-story wet market sells fruits, vegetables, meats, and prepared foods, making it a full-on local food experience. Just a short walk from East China University of Science and Technology, it’s the spot to sample Shanghai’s classic snacks in one go.
