A bookstore-café located just outside the west gate of Shanghai University of Sport in Yangpu, the University Sport Book Store is designed by Studio YUDA and Studio NOR around a striking 17-meter blue stepped structure called “Mingyue Mountain.” The staircase-like form runs through the center of the space and doubles as seating, bookshelves, and reading areas, while smaller stepped elements are scattered throughout as benches, displays, and informal work spots, creating an interior that feels both architectural and functional. Beyond its visual impact, the space is also a quiet and comfortable place to spend a few hours, with desks, counter seats, and a small café offering reasonably priced coffee, making it an easy stop for reading, working, or taking a break if you’re in the Yangpu area.
