Named after Sir Pelham Warren, the British Consul General who founded the exclusive Shanghai Club in 1910, Pelham's at Bund 2 ticks the "Western Fine Dining" box for the luxurious Waldorf-Astoria Hotel. Expect white linens with silver and stems. Like the rest of the hotel, the dining room harks back to turn of the century glamor, a hallmark of the Waldorf brand. Hardwood floors in a herringbone pattern are broken up by black and white marble mosaics and argyle rugs. Five floor-to-ceiling panes of glass separate the kitchen from the dining room, so you can get a glimpse of all the action without all the distracting clanks and sizzles. Food is Western-inspired haute cuisine with all the requisite specialty: truffles, lobster tails, foie gras etc.
