Merlin Entertainments Group -- the one that brought us Madame Tussauds, LEGOLAND Discovery Centre and Changfeng Ocean World -- are building Asia's first "Dungeon" attraction in Shanghai, the tenth installment in the world after it opened The London Dungeon 43 years ago.

*** Here what's neat about The Shanghai Dungeon: It's planning to recreate urban myths of Old Shanghai. Visitors are going to get a 90-minute theatrical experience, which includes 10 different themes and a Shanghai exclusive "drop ride" -- a standing free-fall ride as opposed to the conventional sitting free-fall ride. Sounds terrifying already. The scripts will be co-written by the British team and local "creative specialists". And of course, expect a lot of new technologies and local actors to take part. The venue is currently being built at Yuehui Mosaic mall on Nanjing Dong Lu, and set to be opened this fall. (As if it's not cramped enough by tourists already.) More info about The Shanghai Dungeon, although not much more, at their main page here.
