This Saturday Dada Bar is shook to its core by "Lady Killer", a night dedicated to showcasing Shanghai's up-and-coming female DJs. Featuring five DJs and one VJ, Lady Killers is being put on by ChaCha of Louder.cn, as the first in a string of shakers associated with the music/arts/culture website.
Louder.cn is a Chinese-language sister site of SmartShanghai.com, with an editorial focus on new music and art coming from Shanghai. SmartShanghai is where you go to read about hapless white guys tilting at oblivion, whereas Louder.cn is where you go if you like cool stuff.
Here's some background info and mp3 samples from the DJs performing at Lady Killers. That party is going late, late, late, and looks like a really good night. No shit.

ChaCha
ChaCha's day job is with Louder.cn as the managing editor, but her music and singing career is her primary focus, and in the past two years or so she’s been hyper-active as a solo artist (appearing on stuff by Kode 9 and Clive Chin), and as a member of terrific Shanghai-based reggae sound system, Uprooted Sunshine. As a DJ she does down-beat, atmospheric hip hop, trip hop and shit like that.
In addition to Lady Killers, ChaCha also does a monthly Thursday party down at The Shelter called Karma Koma, which is an "abstract hip hop” night featuring ChaCha and a variety guests playing weird, ghostly beats in a smoky basement.
DJ YEN
Yen’s been a staple of the underground electronic scene for the past couple years, with numerous appearances at Antidote, a couple KarmaKoma sets, and her own party, RMB -- they did one at Yuyintang and then one at Captains. Yen does spazzy, loud electroklash-type stuff and is rad.
Kelly REHAB
Kelly Rehab is one-half of electro/techno duo REHAB. They’ve been doing electro and techno for nigh on three years now at Pirates, LOgO, Volar, and lately in Anar. Her gateway drug is a pair of Technics 1200s, purchased a decade ago, and before moving to Shanghai, she was doing jungle raves in SE Asia and Australia.
Siesta
Not much introduction needs to be written for Siesta, Shanghai's most prolific drum n bass promoter. She of Phreaktion and Sweatshop has been behind virtually every drum n bass event in Shanghai -- big or small -- for the past several years including appearances by Goldie (twice), LTJ Bukem, Andy C, Zinc, and just recently, Roni Size. As a DJ she does drum n bass of course, with a new-found predilection to "crack house". Crack is back!
MIA
After going to Vancouver Film School, MIA did audio production work for a bunch of films, live events, and music studios. She released he own productions in 2006 on Tripper records, and has since relocated to Shanghai working in commercial audio production (her portfolio of clients includes Ecco, Me & City, Cedric M, and more) She's also launched her own label, Moox Records. MIA has since joined the fold at udance.cn and is working on producing their upcoming lounge music channel.
VJ Hean
Supplying visuals on the big screen at Dada is Korean video artist Hean. She did a bunch of big music festivals in Korean and music video work, and in 2008 she moved to Shanghai and have since shown stuff at a number of clubs in the past year or so, associated with groups like Antidote, S.T.D., Sub-Culture and Ben Huang’s Yellow party.
