Shanghai Symphony Orchestra holds a New Year Concert, led by British conductor Daniel Harding. Born in Oxford in 1975, Harding rose to fame and prominence as a young and talented conductor. He started off assisting Sir Simon Rattle at the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, with which he made his professional debut in 1994. He was only 20 years old when he first conducted Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra. In his late 20s, he served as the Music Director for both the Mahler Chamber Orchestra and the Deutsche Chamber Philharmonic Orchestra, Bremen in 2003. He is also the youngest conductor in history of La Scala in Milan.
