TouJAM presents the Creature Double Feature. The JZ big band leader and fixture of the Shanghai jazz scene, Alec Haavik, stars in the short film “The Lizard's Journey.” Directed by Nicky Almasy, the movie explores the reptile-like metamorphosis of Haavik's mind as he leads his Friction Five band. The movie is in English, with Chinese subtitles. An interview between Haavik and DJ Bo about the project will follow the screening.
After a short break, the program will continue with the screening of the first half of FW Murnau's silent film classic "Faust", during which Haavik's new project, Ghosts Before Breakfast, will perform a live music soundtrack. The movie "Faust" looks at how far an emotionally drained scientist will go to find a cure for a dangerous pandemic. The movie is 94 years old and can't be any more relevant than ever. The film is directed by FW Murnau, who is famous for his vampire movie "Nosferatu". The movie has German, English, and Chinese intertitles.
Burger restaurant BAPS – located directly next door to LOFAS, will be serving specially themed burgers before and during the event.
